Tateuchi Story Theatre can host lectures, presentations, seminars, and films with its high ceilings, acoustically treated walls and seating for up to 70 guests. The historic Nippon Kan Theatre Scrim from the early 1900s serves as the backdrop for this space. Equipment includes a sound system, controlled lighting, LCD projector with viewing screen (7’ high x 13’ wide), DVD/CD player, and capability to hook to a computer for PowerPoint
presentations. Other amenities include use of a podium, (2) microphones, and studio director chairs. The Theatre projector must be operated by Museum staff. *Please note: Users may bring their presentation materials on a flash drive or make it accessible via the Cloud to use our onsite laptop with our Screen & Projector.
$115 – $155 per hour
There is a minimum of 3 hours for rental of this space. We offer general rates and discounted rates and a non-profit institutions (must provide a 501c3).
You must include at least a total of 1 hour for access (set-up) and clean-up time in your hourly rental. To obtain the non-profit rates, we ask that you provide a 501c3.
To serve alcohol, clients must purchase either a $10 banquet permit or a $60 Special Occasion License online via the Washington State Liquor Control Board, for more information, visit https://liq.wa.gov/
A 50% deposit (25% non-refundable) and a Contract & Invoice signed by both parties are required to confirm a reservation. If an event is cancelled or altered with less than fourteen (14) days notice, 100% of the Space Rental Fee will remain payable.

Our Facility Use program offers a variety of spaces available that will perfectly suit the needs of your event. Past events include: corporate conferences, meetings, receptions, dinners, film screenings, performances, workshops, and retreats.
You could also pair your event with one of our guided tours, and your guests will have a rare opportunity to step back in time with our historic hotel tour or uncover the secrets of the neighborhood with one of our walking tours.

The facility may be reserved as early as 9:00AM inclusive of set-up time. All clean-up for events must end by 9:00PM. All guests, third-party vendors, affiliates of clients, and clients themselves must exit the building by these mentioned times as detailed in their signed Contract. Sundays available with an additional staffing fee. Mondays and Tuesdays unavailable. May reservations require 3 months’ notice due to high demand (last updated February 2023.)
Hourly or all-day parking is available in the nearby Interim Parking Lot at 900 S King Street located under the I-5 bridge overpass with entrances on S King Street and Jackson Street. This lot is cash-only. Free and two-hour street parking upon availability.
