Availability
We’re always looking for new shows. Typically we’re booked 3 months out, but there are always holes here and there.
Rule of thumb. Please give 1 month leeway for every day you want in the run.
The Space
The Pocket Theater is a 50 seat black box located in Greenwood. Our motto -
Never pay to perform! If you’re bringing an audience to our stage, you will never have to pay a dime. Also if a bunch of people come, we’ll pay you!
Tech Specs -
- Light - 4 Fresnel Cans for general wash, and 2 LED pars (for every color in the rainbod
- Sound - Big speakers, soundboard, in house computer, inputs for your own devices/instruments (on stage and in the booth), 2 mics with stands, and one god mic.
- Projection - We have a projector. The screen is ~8’ x ~5’. It hangs above the stage.
- HD Camera - We film every show that happens in the space, and make the footage available as cheaply as possible afterward. ($25-$45)
Support -
- Staff - We staff every show. One person in the front to sell tickets and beer. One person in the theater to help make sure everything runs smoothly
- Marketing Training - Because we’re investing in you, we’ll teach you how to most effectively turn out people to your performance. We can’t do the work for you, but we can make sure the work you do is work that gets results.
- Alumni network - You’re not an island at our venue. Everyone is in the same boat, and once you’ve been approved to work at our venue you’ll be connected to literally hundreds of people who want to collaborate and help you. If there’s something you want to learn, or a community you want to get involved with. We’ll make sure that happens.

- Rehearsals - $15/hour standard ($10/hour if you’re doing a show with us)
- Workshops/Meetings/Events - $15-$35/hour depending upon what you’re doing. Contact for specifics.

Cancellation Policy
-For rentals we require 100% paid before the space is reserved.
-Full refunds with 1 week notice.
-50% refund with less than 1 week notice.

The Building
We want you!
As a performer/producer it’s hard to start. You don’t have a home base. You might not have a budget. You’re still building a following for your show. Don’t worry! Our accomodating 50 seat black box theater is here to support you! At The Pocket:
You will never have to pay a rental fee to perform. Ever.
We take all of the up front risk, because we believe your show will be great. Here’s what success looks like at The Pocket:
- Success @ 15 seats sold – You did it! The house is 30% full. Yeah! We’ll be coming to you again for more shows.
- Paid out @ 20+ seats – You get paid! $10 for every ticket sold past the first 20. We’ll pay you in less than a week.
We’re confident that almost every show can bring in 15 audience members, but we’re not just going to leave that all on you. We will give you the tools and resources to succeed. Here is what we offer all of our performers:
- Marketing Education – We’ll work with you directly to develop a marketing plan which will increase the size of your audience.
- Cross Promotion – Your show will be present in all of The Pocket’s press releases, programs, websites, and we’ll give your show a shout out at similar shows.
- Co-production Status – You’re not a rental. We’re investing in you. We will be proud of your work, and you can be proud of performing in our space. Use our logo and name to help bring people to your show.
- Reduced Rehearsal Rates – We have 2 spaces for rent. You don’t have to perform on our stage to use them, but if you do you get 25-30% off.
- Staffed Venue – A fully functional black box. Ticket/Bartender. Tech person. House manager. You don’t have to worry about any of that if you don’t want to.
- Hi Def Video – We will record every show in the pocket. If you decide you want the footage let us know and we’ll get it to you at a reasonable rate.
- Alumni Support – Once you’ve performed at the pocket you’ll always have a special place in our hearts. We’re committed to your success no matter where you perform.
We’ll vouch for you, and you can always ask us for support and advice. We want nothing more than for you to become a local celebrity. Just remember where you started!

Still not convinced? Maybe you’re thinking that your show isn’t right for the pocket. There will be three kinds of shows that will be in the space:
- One Time Only: A brand new show, a visiting artist, a press preview. Try something out and see if it sticks.
- Multi-week runs: We will focus on giving shows which couldn’t otherwise afford a long run. This will allow you to get press to actually attend your event.
- Keystone shows: You can consistently fill a house, so we’ll partner with you to put on shows on a regular basis. Monthly, weekly. Build a strong following.
Notice that none of these are genre or content focused. We want weird. We want new. We want untested. We’re pretty sure you will find a place in The Pocket. The only way we can find out for sure is if you talk to us. WE WANT YOU!

Weekdays and daytime the space is available for rent for classes, workshops, rehearsals, etc.
Parking
We have our own parking lot on the north side of the building. Street parking is very easy and you will typically never have to park further than 2 blocks from the theater.
