The Space

The Flex Space at The Mill is a unique large-scale art fabrication space situated in a converted industrial warehouse. Comprising about 2500 square feet surrounded by private artist studios, this communal open-air workspace is intended to be rented primarily for temporary projects and active making (as opposed to storage). The space can be sectioned and rented in flexible sizes and configurations depending on artists’ needs. Features include secure access, expansive ceilings, concrete floors, a loading dock, and access to power, restrooms, utility sink, and shared kitchen. It is conveniently located in Rainier Valley just a half mile south of the Rainier Beach light rail station.

Monthly Rental

$200 – $2000 per month

The rental rate is based upon square footage so it varies depending on the rental area. The rate is set at an accessible level to support local artists.


Rental Requirements

To apply, please provide any relevant professional information (business, website, etc) and a description of your project needs, logistics, timeline, funding organization, and so forth.

Please note that this is an open, communal workspace in a building with a number of other private artist studios. If applicable, artists should have a plan for dust/debris removal and any other safety considerations as applicable. The Mill is a friendly, safe, and supportive atmosphere, and renters will be asked to contribute the same energy.

All renters will sign a standard lease agreement.
