The Space

Available starting October 1, 2023

This space is in the ID/Japantown, just a few blocks east of the TK Lofts & Pioneer Sq galleries. The size is 16 x 16.5’ with 12’ ceiling. It has a skylight and tons of wall space (no regular windows). Walls & ceilings are smooth-wall, drywall over wood studs. Fluorescent lights, plus a 4-plex outlet on the ceiling with a switch on the wall so it’s easy to rig up your own custom lighting. It also has a good vent fan/exhaust fan and it’s own heater. Shared kitchenette & bathroom with utility sink down the hall.

I’m ideally looking for one artist rather than a couple of people sharing the space. Fine artists/visual artists; work space only, (not live/work). Not suited for toxic, dusty or noisy work, or industrial-types of production work. We have an airbnb room wall-to-wall with this space, so I’m looking for someone who is fairly quiet and who would be here mostly during the day, or who works very quietly if at night or early am.

Parking in this neighborhood is expensive during the day, but it’s a great location for public transportation - just 1 block from the light rail Chinatown/ID stop, street car, and many bus routes. Also please note there is a long flight of stairs to get up to our floor, and no elevator.

If you’re interested please reply via email by clicking on “contact this space” in the green bar at the top of the screen. Please include a link to your artwork, and some info about the type of work you would be doing in the space, (type of materials etc).

WAITING LIST
If this space isn’t the one for you, you can get on my waiting list. Click on “contact this space” above, and please send me an email with ALL of the following info (no texts or phone calls please, I organize my waiting list via email):

- name, email, phone number, website link
- minimum size you need, and max price you can handle if something bigger opens up
- ideal start date
- what type of materials you use
- private space only, or are you interested in sharing a space?
- could you work in a space with a skylight but no windows (with good ventilation), or do you need a window that opens?
- any special requirements you have that might help me match you up with the right space?

thx!
Jaq
