The Space

‘57 Biscayne brings together friendly, creative, hard-working people supporting each other while we make our work. The painters, printmakers, designers, jewelers, photographers, and other creative professionals hold semi-annual Artwalk events with music, guests, installations and more, attracting a high-end, appreciative crowd and lots of press. We have communal kitchens on each floor, inviting waiting areas, convenient utility sinks, nice restrooms, & two hallway galleries, as well as a two-story lobby in which to display art. We even have a swanky guest rental suite (hung with local art of course) that helps subsidize the rents. And we have stability!—Our building is partly artist-owned and dedicated to continued affordability for creative enterprises of many varieties.

Studio 210 is available for rent, beginning February 1. This lovely space is 532 square feet, longer than it is wide. It’s perfect for a photographer, but painters, sculptors, and videographers have also found it to their liking. Windows face west onto First Avenue, with plenty of streaming afternoon sunlight (weather permitting) and gallery track lighting. Rent of $1100 monthly covers utilities, wifi, and shared use of commonareas, which include kitchenette, clean restrooms, and generous,professionally lit hallway galleries. Traditionally, we have hadcooperatively-organized open houses twice a year, and spontaneous
collaboration has been known to occur. We look forward to resuming all that and more later this year.

The Building

Working artists studios in the heart of Pioneer Square. Twenty-seven artist-created renovated studios filled with independent creative entrepreneurs, on two floors, each with a common gallery hallway and kitchen. We support each others’ endeavors, share information, and periodically collaborate to help each other maximize our creative and professional potential. Open twice a year for First Thursday Artwalk, with curated shows and guest artists (Open houses are temporarily suspended, but we hope to resume later in 2021.)

‘57 Biscayne occupies the second floor of the Good Arts Building, purchased in 2015 by a collaboration of artists, a developer, and a coffee shop owner, and dedicated to providing stable, permanently affordable space for artists and other creative entrepreneurs in Seattle’s oldest neighborhood.

The building is open by appointment at this time.

Parking

Two-hour metered parking in the immediate vicinity; becomes free after 6 PM. Lots of reasonable pay lots in the neighborhood.
However, it would make us happy if you would be a good citizen and take the bus or light rail or walk or ride your bike.

Public Transportation

One block from Pioneer Square light rail station.
A block and a half from Colman Dock.
Numerous Metro and Sound Transit buses stop nearby.

Security

Currently the exterior doors are locked 24-7. Interior suite doors are unlocked during the day for deliveries. Nightly security checks are conducted outside the building.
